The 5 Best Apps For Reselling Your Old Clothes

Reselling

Spring is finally here, and with it comes spring cleaning! If the thought of cleaning out your closet overwhelms you, maybe getting a little cash back for your old clothes will make you feel a bit more motivated. But reselling can seem a little complicated if you are new to it. Where should you list things? And how? We’re here to give you the 5 best apps to sell your old clothes so you can start seeing some profit and get rid of all that clutter!

Reselling can be both fun and rewarding!

1. eBay

It’s been around the longest for a reason; eBay is still one of the best apps for reselling your stuff. By far the easiest site to list items on, eBay allows you to find items like the one you are selling and copy the listing, so there is no need to fill out all of the specific details about your item yourself.

However, every app has its downsides, and eBay’s main downside is a selling fee that can go up to 15%. That is one of the highest-selling fees on this list!

2. Depop

Speaking of selling fees, Depop is one of only a few reselling apps that no longer has one! Being able to sell fee-free is one of the biggest perks of using Depop. On top of that, this app also has a more eclectic, hipper vibe that brings a younger clientele and can mean your clothes sell faster.

The downsides? Depop does not have as many selling categories, and they only allow you to upload 8 pictures of any item. A limit that can be a little stifling, especially if you are selling an item that has a lot of details.

3. Poshmark

I’m gonna say it upfront, Poshmark has probably the most confusing selling fee structure of any reselling app. Here are the details: for sales under $15, they take a flat $2.95 commission. For sales over $15, they take 20%. That might not sound that bad, but that means if you sell something for $100, you are only actually getting $80. This can be a bit frustrating, especially if you only have a smaller inventory.

But there are upsides to selling on Poshmark. The app has a lot of well-organized categories, there is a diverse clientele, and, best of all, Poshmark allows you to boost your old listings for free at any time. Most apps charge for this very desirable feature.

4. Mercari

Talk about having a lot of categories! Mercari is probably the best app for categories and the best for communicating with customers. This is also a great app for selling things besides clothes, like old books and DVDs, so if your Spring cleaning goes beyond just your closet, Mercari may be the best choice for you!

However, Mercari recently reinstated a selling fee on all items of 10%. Certainly not the highest fee on this list, but enough to make most of us hesitate.

5. Vinted

Vinted used to be a lot bigger in terms of reach, but they have recently limited a lot of their categories. However, if you are only selling clothes, jewelry, or accessories, Vinted may be the perfect app for you!

They have no selling fee, and they have flat rate shipping, so no measuring or weighing items before mailing them out! Although Vinted has become less popular in recent years, it certainly still has a big enough reach to net you some customers.

There is no wrong answer here!

No matter which app you choose to use, it can be so freeing to get rid of old things and get some money back in the process. And after you’re done, you’ll have plenty of room for a new summer wardrobe!
