If you are facing an impossible task this week, add some Monday motivation by reading Matthew 19:26 on your coffee break. Stepping into another week facing what you think can’t be done gives God a chance to show you different.
Many of you have faced Monday already feeling behind. The workload looks like Mount Everest than the anthill it really is. At the same time bills are due, deadlines are coming quick, and your energy is low. However, it doesn’t change this one fact: Your limitations are not God’s boundaries.
Monday Motivation: Just Consider The Possibilities
A young man was working on his yard, wanting to grow a good lawn for the Spring. For weeks he toiled the dry yard that was mostly dirt. His neighbors told him nothing has never grown there and nothing will ever grow there. Still, he toiled. He planted seeds, watered the yard that now looked like a giant mud pit and waited and prayed. A few days later the seeds sprouted, and he saw a light shade of green in the yard.
Weeks later grass was growing and what appeared to be dirt revealed good soil. Sometimes, if not all the time, when we are looking for growth, we need to pray and wait for God to fulfill our “Impossible Possibilities”. The reason why many do not see their dreams fulfilled is because they get lost in their emotions and quit the faith process.
Monday Motivation: Jesus Responds To Whatever Is Deemed “Impossible”.
In Matthew 19, Jesus talks about how difficult it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God. He just finished speaking with the Rich Young Ruler, challenging him to sell all of his possessions to follow him. The Ruler was looking to add to his wealth the salvation of God. However, when he realized it might cost him his earthly possessions, he turned away.
This prompted Jesus to say in verse 23-24 the following : “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
When asked in v.25 who then could be saved he responds by saying this in the following verse: “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Even though rich people are seen as materialistic, self absorbing people, Christ concludes with theology that says “Yes, I can save even them.”
Monday Motivation: 3 Lessons Learned From Matthew 19:26
As you go about your week, here are some practical thoughts you can apply to your week :
- Understand that God is in control of it all. If you are going through the storm this week know it was meant to happen for purposes you do not see yet. Bad days only occur if you experienced all the emotions of being mad and upset and learned nothing.
- Your human abilities are limited, but the power of prayer is limitless. Your faith has no limit if you step out on it. It might look scary, but if you’re looking to make it through, you have to start moving with faith that surpasses even your own understanding. All you need to remember is “God saw it too, and I can make it.”
- Respond to Jesus Christ like He is truly the Son of God. To study your Bible and never apply faith and trust is just reading another book. Activate your faith by applying what you’ve learned or are learning. James says it best: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” (James 1:22)
God is not asking you to be the smartest in the room, or the loudest. He is asking you to be available in believing that he can deal with any problem you have.
A Monday Motivational Prayer For Your Week
Dear Jesus, we all have a lot going on that we feel is too much. We feel like we’re going to fall behind or come up short. Our minds are filled with so much that we stare at the ceiling each night or we are taking medication just to fall asleep. Help us all find peace in your Holy Word. Amen.
