Meditation! We all have responsibilities in life! Work, family, bills, pets, and other obligations. We tend to be so focused on everyone else that we forget about ourselves and our well-being. Meditation time is for you, and it is important to do. When you meditate, you can even learn more about yourself. You can discover new things you like to do that you never thought you would do before. Be open to new possibilities. It is important that you find a routine to meditate, and do it on a daily basis.
Life Balance
Be sure to meditate, whether your life is going great or not so great. Think about your day. What do you have to get done? Are you caught up with your work? Is the house clean? Is the laundry done? Are the bills paid? How do you mediate? I have learned that there needs to be a balance. You should be taking time off from work and household work and also not working when you are on vacation. It’s just a job; they can survive without you.
We tend to get so caught up in our careers that we forget about ourselves and our families. When you are working, you should take breaks, go for a walk, and get out of the office (or your home office). These are forms of meditation. Spending time alone is okay. Listen to a podcast, read a book. Just make sure you make time for you. Think about what makes you happy and what helps to make your life feel more balanced. For me, it’s writing, spending time with my pets, and getting out in nature.
Meditation Tips
Below are some meditation tips I recommend that have helped me in my journey of growth. Not every method is for everyone, but below are some suggestions that might hopefully assist you.
- Reading
- Journaling
- Singing
- Coloring
- Get good sleep
- Gardening
- Breathe
- Be in the now
- Don’t borrow trouble (If you think something “might” happen, don’t think about it unless it does).
- Meditate two or three times a day, even if just for small cycles
Learn About Yourself
As you grow and change in your life, your goals might change. Your meditation habits might change; what you were interested in last year or even yesterday might be different now. That is okay! You are continuing to learn and grow; that is a good thing. How you meditate may change as well; it is also a part of wellness, which we all need. Maybe what worked for you before isn’t working now, and that is okay, too!
Write a “Mission Statement” about meditation. What is your current goal or objective? What do you want to accomplish as a short-term goal? Your mission statement can even change. If you have accomplished a specific goal from your existing Mission Statement, create a new one and structure it to other specific goals you want to achieve.
Think about what you liked to do as a child. When you meditate, think about something that makes you happy. You may be able to bring new hobbies into light when you meditate. When we grow older, we tend to forget or lose what made us happy and gave us joy early on in our lives. Meditation will help with creating balance in your life and give you direction.
In a Nutshell
Continue to meditate, learn about yourself, take care of yourself, and continue to grow as a person. We change every day, whether we realize it or not. I encourage you to meditate, no matter what the forum is (calm app or whatever works for you). Listen to or read a book, go on walks by yourself, and just enjoy nature- whatever makes you happy. Spend time with your loved ones, but not too much. There needs to be that even balance and time for meditation. It is okay to meditate and spend some time alone. Meditating can happen in a lot of different ways. Figure out what works best for you and indulge in that.
After all, we have only one life here that I know of, so you should embrace every moment of it. You need time for you! No one else can take care of you but you! Long live you, your happiness, and wellness! Do You!
