Is It True That Real Men Wear Pink?

Men wearing pink has been a controversial topic for decades. We know everyone remembers that iconic photo of the American rapper Killa Cam aka Cam’ron decked out in that pink fur coat. He even had the matching pink accessories with the pink fur headband and flip phone. That specific photo was captured at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in February 2002. When it comes to fashion, nothing is off-limits. However, it leaves us with one burning question. What is the issue with men who wear pink?

Is Men Wearing Pink a Problem?

In this day and age, colors are no longer gender specific. Seeing a man wearing pink is not exactly out of the norm as it used to be. The color pink was once thought of as feminine. Yet for the last 10 + years we’ve seen a major change in the mindsets of people regarding the stereotypes surrounding gender. Quite frankly, we can not see why there was ever an issue with men wearing pink clothes or accessories. Furthermore, along with the mindsets changing, times have changed as well. In the past, seeing men wear pink was a once-a-year phenomenon representing Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Now men wear pink more frequently as it is also representative of confidence.

The Pink Revolution

Pink is very versatile and much like the colors yellow and orange, it compliments every skin tone beautifully. It does not matter what the shade of pink is, it is still flattering. There are several places you can see a man proudly wearing the color pink as a bold color choice such as in the workplace, at a fashion event/ on a runway, out on a date, as a casual everyday fashion choice and so many others. We are glad to be witnessing more men wearing the color. This shows us that real men do in fact wear pink and we love to see it.

The Science Behind Men In Pink

Seeing a woman wearing pink and other bright colors exudes freedom and happiness. However, that positivity is not only just for girls and women. Although showcasing they are comfortable with themselves and their masculinity, some men may even feel threatened by other men wearing the color pink. That is too bad for those men who do not wear pink because women admire the ones who do. So, men, it is time to get with the program and sprinkle a little pink in your wardrobe. We’re not saying you have to saturate your entire closet with all pink clothing but a dash of pink to accentuate your normal styling will do the trick!
