Happy 4th of July! It’s Feel Good Friday – Independence Day Edition, focusing on how we are empowered by freedom in Christ! The Bible tells us, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” – John 8:36 (NIV)
Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and the gift of freedom that so many brave men and women fought to secure. But beyond the fireworks, cookouts, and parades, there’s an even greater freedom we celebrate—the freedom found in Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, we are set free from the chains of sin, shame, fear, and death. That freedom can’t be taken away, no matter what is happening around us.
Here are three freedoms worth celebrating on this Feel Good Friday and every day.
Freedom from Sin
“For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.” – Romans 6:14 (NIV)
Because of Jesus, we don’t have to be ruled by our past or trapped by our failures. His sacrifice paid our debt in full. We’re forgiven. We’re free. What a reason to rejoice on this Feel Good Friday!
Freedom to Live with Purpose
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free… do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” – Galatians 5:1,13 (NIV)
Jesus didn’t just set us free from something; He set us free for something. He calls us to live lives of meaning, serving others, and pointing them to the source of true liberty on this Feel Good Friday.
Freedom to Hope
“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” – 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)
No matter how uncertain the world feels, in Christ we have a steady hope. We are no longer slaves to fear or worry. Our citizenship is in heaven, and our hearts can rest in the One who holds it together.
Feel Good Friday Final Thoughts
Celebrate your freedom today with gratitude for our country and joy in the spiritual freedom that only Jesus can give. Let Feel Good Friday be a reminder that because of Jesus, you are free indeed!
Prayer for Today
Father, thank You for the gift of freedom both in this nation and in my soul. Thank you for sending Jesus to break the chains of sin and give me new life. Help me to live in that freedom daily and not take it for granted. Let me use the freedom you give to serve and love others well. Let my life be a light that points others to the One who truly sets us free. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
