The phenomenon referred to as dirty soda quickly grew into a hit event on social media, bringing many through its unusual combination of sugary-carbonated drinks and creamy complements. Such combinations of sodas with creamy coffee, flavored syrups, and perhaps fruits have made those delicious, decadently simple beverages into sweet mixtures. Experts, however, have come through with life-threatening red alarms on their palatability and the tendency to go viral. The article dives into the explanation of why one should rather eat sugar in solid food forms as opposed to indulging in drinks, such as dirty soda.

Dirty Soda: Liquid Sugar Dangers

The sugar found in liquid form in beverages like dirty soda does pose specific health complications. Liquid calories do not trigger the fullness signals within the body, unlike solid foods. This phenomenon allows one to consume a great deal of sugar without feeling satisfied. Over time, this is likely to result in being overweight as it takes in a lot of calories. Research, including a BYU study, indicates that liquid sugar has a higher risk of diabetes than food. The body does process liquid sugar rapidly; hence, there will be very sharp and immediate blood sugar spikes.

Eating Sugar Versus Dirty Soda

In fact, sugar is absorbed by the body in a much more inefficient manner when it is eaten as a solid food than when it is taken as a liquid. The molecules thus enter the bloodstream and dissolve there faster to give immediate responses. Sugar goes along with only one other natural and vital substance: fiber, which does the most needed action- it slows sugar absorption to give a gentle, smooth elevation in blood sugar levels, and it enables chewing of the solid food, thus providing satiety cues.

Generally, taking sugar in liquid form is much worse; solid food may be better, since slow digestion and fiber content could mean that such foods are not as bad as any high-sugar drink. Dirty soda is yet another vista of a much worse scene, which is sugar consumption in excess. Yes, sugar is bad whether in liquid or in solid form. That’s the reason why it should be taken in moderation. It has much hidden sugar in many drinks and snacks around. Small interventions may help cut consumption by one or even two portions daily.

Other alternatives would be plain water, unsweetened tea, or fruit-flavored water- they cut down sugar in much the same way over the course of a day.
