There are many non-alcoholic wines available to taste in 2025. Some are traditional wines with alcohol taken out through a designated process. Others are beverages with recipes that create flavors and textures found in wine. Wines with alcohol removed can retain small traces. Alcohol levels in these wines can be akin to alcohol levels in kombucha. Beverages made to be as similar to wine as possible can be alcohol-free. They combine ingredients such as verjus to create flavors reminiscent of wines. Verjus is juice that is made from wine grapes that are not yet ripe.

Non-alcoholic wines come in two main types. One type is, according to Serious Eats, “traditional wine that has had the alcohol removed.” After undergoing the process of removing alcohol, these wines may still contain trace alcohol levels. The levels of alcohol in these wines are comparable to those found in kombuchaSerious Eats explains that alcohol removal places “wine in a vacuum under very low heat.” Creating wine with alcohol removed can be compared to producing decaf coffee.

The other type of non-alcoholic wine is a beverage that tastes like wine. This type of wine can be free of any alcohol content. If having no alcohol at all is a necessity, this could be your choice. Grape juice can feature as an ingredient in these beverages. Botanicals and herbs can be included to help create winelike flavors. In both non-alcoholic wine types, flavor and texture elements found in traditional wines are present. These elements are acidity and tannins.

Serious Eats stresses: “All wine needs tannins and acid to create a balanced beverage.” One source of tannins in traditional wines is grape skins. Another way traditional wines can gain tannins is through an aging process in wooden barrels. Tannins can also be incorporated into the consistency of non-alcoholic wines. Serious Eats states tannins can be added “through ingredients like coffee, tea, and oak.” Verjus is an important non-alcoholic wine ingredient that provides acidity. Verjus is juice from wine grapes that have not ripened. Acidity in non-alcoholic wines can also come from vinegar.

Examples of Non-Alcoholic Wines

Kally Early Cabernet is described by Serious Eats as a “wine-like product.” Serious Eats defines these as beverages “made to mimic the taste of real wine.” The beverages contain no alcohol. Serious Eats notes the “eye-catching bottle design” of Kally Early Cabernet. This non-alcoholic wine is made with organic verjus. This organic verjus comes from California Chardonnay grapes. These grapes are picked by hand. Kally Early Cabernet also contains organic versions of other ingredients. These include cherry juice and vanilla extract.

The Studio Null Prickly Red is an example of a wine with alcohol removed. As such, it can still contain alcohol at trace levels. The grapes included in the Studio Null Prickly Red are Syrah and Tempranillo. The wine contains sugar, which can be an ingredient found in traditional wines, as well. The bottle offers information about the region and vineyard from which the grapes inside originated. Serious Eats compares this wine to Lambrusco. According to Serious Eats, the wine has “a light fizz.” In addition, the wine is described as having a hearty tannin consistency.

NON is a brand of non-alcoholic wines that has been around since 2017. Food & Wine explains that NON makes “0.0% ABV wine.” The brand was created by Aaron Trotman, an entrepreneur from Australia. Aaron Trotman has a significant other who does not partake of alcohol. Trotman has, therefore, worked to make delicious non-alcoholic wines for people to enjoy. These wines are crafted to provide a nuanced wine taste in a non-alcoholic format. Food & Wine describes care taken with “tannins, minerality, salinity, and fruity or floral notes.”
