3 Hilarious Truths that Reptile Enthusiast Inadvertently Share

I’ve been a reptile fanatic for as long as I can remember, but I was “today years old” when it finally occurred to me just how much these creatures have impacted my life! Sadly, reptiles aren’t the most popular pets. According to Chewy’s PetMD, reptiles came in 6th place for Most Popular Pet in 2023. Of course, dogs, cats, and fish are among the more popular pets, but as more people discover how quirky and charming reptiles are, that is guaranteed to change! Here are 3 truths that all reptile lovers share, novices and experts alike!

Reptile “Clutter” Literally Everywhere

Having pet-related clutter is obviously a common trend among pet parents, but would you be surprised if I told you that keeping reptiles will take your collection of “things” to a whole new level?! I’m not talking about the ordinary pet accessories, but more the out-of-the-blue objects that you’ll find yourself collecting!

I unexpectedly discovered this one day as I traipsed through my house, slowly scanning each room, noticing that I have rocks, sticks, plastic containers, glass containers, light bulbs, lamp shades, water bottles, tweezers, fake plants, real plants, aquariums, terrariums, potting soil, play sand, pool noodles, clamps, spray paint, and even dog toys for my reptiles!

Another common trend seen among pet parents, or any parent for that matter, is taking hundreds of thousands of pictures of our furry, scaley, feathery children. Reptiles are definitely not exempt from this! The above screenshot is just one example of hundreds that I can personally provide for proof.

As a mother of many children, mostly furry and scaley ones but the human kind, too, I speak the truth when I say that reptile enthusiasts also have photo albums busting at the seams of these delightful animals!

Infatuated with Reptiles

Reptiles have a truly unique way of captivating our hearts. If you are a novice keeper, don’t be surprised when you feel that overwhelming love that literally gives you butterflies when you admire your new pet. I have spent countless hours purely watching Lenny do all the things and none of the things at the same time! I often find myself with a huge smile on my face and radiating happiness over something simple he does, like big stretches, and licking his eyeballs!

Although many will claim that reptiles don’t show emotions and are not capable of loving their owners, I’d like to believe that they are just as happy as they appear to be! No matter if you’re just beginning your obsession, or you’re a confirmed reptile fanatic, it’s safe to say that you can relate to these 3 truths!
